How Does Public Relations Differ From Advertising?

As a business owner, your main goal is to get your services or products in front of as many people as possible. Two ways in which to accomplish this is through advertising and public relations campaigns. While both are aimed to accomplish similar goals, public relations campaigns can be successful and more cost-effective, especially for small to medium sized businesses.

Advertising is a popular method for business owners to get their products noticed. You see them everywhere, in magazines, on television and online. Business owners are given the opportunity to make any claim they see fit to try to sell their products to consumers. Advertisements are not required to be newsworthy nor are they based on working with media professionals. Anyone can create and place an ad for a price. While on the topic of price, the price for advertising can be very high and can quickly drain an advertising budget.

A public relations campaign is a well thought out marketing strategy that is based on working closely with business owners and media professionals. Public relations campaigns consist of writing and distributing newsworthy press releases. Consistent contact is made with key media professionals at magazines, web sites, blogs and television. Unlike advertising, the type of exposure that comes from a public relations campaign is more valuable than advertising. Public relations campaign are a smart investment for most businesses, and will cost a fraction of what it would cost to advertise in any number of national publications.

Achieving Success Using Viral Marketing And A Public Relations Campaign

We have many clients who have achieved success even during these tight times by enlisting the help of Libra Design and Media. One of our clients, Vegan Chic, was in need of getting the word out about their unique business and its concepts. We began by implementing a fresh, effective public relations campaign that has resulted in highly targeted, national print media exposure, as well as various online articles reaching Vegan Chic’s primary market. As the business grew, the campaign expanded to achieve even better results by adding a successful viral marketing campaign which set about further reaching their audiences through blog articles and postings.

The success Vegan Chic has achieved with our services has been phenomenal! A recent name change dropped their Google ranking to a PR2 but through blog postings achieved with a viral marketing campaign and online product reviews brought about by their public relations campaign, Vegan Chic is back up to aPR5 and climbing in just a few short months. Vegan Chic is near their goal of once again being #1 in Google searches helping potential customers find them quickly and easily. The continued success of articles and reviews of their products has even allowed Vegan Chic to cancel expensive pay-per-click advertising they were paying for without seeing a downturn in sales!

Libra Design and Media would be happy to discuss your business and marketing goals and how our services can help you achieve success. Please feel free to contact us at http://www.libradesignandmedia.com/contact.shtml to ask questions or for a no obligation quote.

Public Relations for Small Businesses

A public relations campaign, or a PR campaign, is a marketing strategy that is based on working with the media. A highly effective PR campaign can give your business the media exposure it needs and deserves.

Depending on your business' marketing goals, the campaign can be organized in many different ways. Most commonly, small to medium sized businesses are in need of product review articles, web articles and other types of media exposure in this same arena. Through effectively reaching key media persons at various magazines, web sites, ezines, blogs and other media resources, a successful public relations campaign will help your business achieve media exposure. This media exposure can help with bringing traffic to your web site and creating an overall awareness of your business and brands.

With our robust media materials and excellent working relationship with an array of executives, editors and other media staff members, we have effectively and successfully helped a variety of businesses achieve a higher overall awareness in the media. Even during these tough economic times, our clients are enjoying growth and prosperity due to the exposure they receive from their PR campaigns.

A public relations campaign is a perfect fit for any small businesses striving to create name and brand recognition. Because the type of media exposure a PR campaign brings tends to be more valuable than advertising, and costs a fraction of what you'd pay to advertise in any number of national publications, it's a good investment for most any business. A good PR agency will provide a PR report to show the progress of your PR campaign, to include estimated ad values of each type of media exposure received, as well as potential or upcoming articles to be published about your business and products or services.
